Summary

Chromatron 2 is an excellent shareware puzzle game designed by Sean Barrett. The game is a great sequel to the original Chromatron, a freeware guide-the-laser-beam-to-target game. The concept of both games is deceptively simple: place mirrors on the playing field and rotate them properly to reflect the laser beam into the pinwheel(s). To complicate matters, there are many different kinds of mirrors ? for example, the ?splitter? splits a beam into two beams if hit at an angle, as well as merges two laser beams into one. There are also extra requirements on many levels that make your job much more difficult: for example, some pinwheels require multiple laser beams or a specific color beam to light up, and in some levels you must combine beams based on primary color principles to produce the required color.

Chromatron 2 feature 50 all-new levels in the registered version and three new pieces to stump you with: the twister, the complementor, and the multi-filter. The infuriatingly difficult-to-dealt-with ?quantum tangler? piece from the first game is back, but thankfully for anyone who?s not a puzzle maven, it?s in only 8 out of 50 levels. Both games are excellent brainteasers that will keep you occupy for hours on end. Chromatron 2 costs only $8.50 to register, and it?s well worth this bargain price. If you aren?t sure, though, try out Chromatron - which is freeware ? and see if you?ll agree with me ;) With up to 40 hours (or more, if you?re not a puzzle expert) of gameplay, Chromatron 2 is one of the best purchases you?ll ever make. Two thumbs up, way up!

I know Chromatron for having played it a long time, but having to install wine just to launch it is a little boring.

Why can’t there be any Linux version?
If you want to, I can compile it for Linux: You just have to send me the sources.

Martin.
