Summary

The first SimTex that puts their name on the map is also arguably the best games Steve Barcia ever designed in his short career.

This is *the* 4X space strategy game that has it all: solid AI, varied alien races that require different strategies to win, innovative combat and technology systems, intriguing espionage model, and much more. This game never leaves my hard drive since its first release, because of its immense replayablity and nearly inexhaustible strategic combinations. If you can play only one space strategy game, THIS is your best bet.

Note: Pictures of ships needed to pass copy protection are included in the manual file below, thanks to Anym and Bateau :) You *cannot* crack the game, because the game will detect the alteration and automatically makes it impossible to win in later stages. Devious programming by SimTex ;)

highly replayable strategy game with little micromanagement

Rating:

9.0

Master of Orion is a well-balanced 4X strategy game where every game is unique: The galaxy, its inhabitants, their personalities, and the technologies available for research are different every game, and any game requires a different strategy to win.

In contrast to many 4X games Master of Orion requires little micromanagement even with big empires, leaving room for more important - and interesting - choices.

If you want to know more, Sirian's page is a good place to start:

It is a very good game!!!.

I used to play in my 386SX@16mhz, and in the begining I don“t understand nothing, but slowly I begun to manage the game and then it turns very addictive!.

I used to play with the alien "brains" XD (I do not remeber now their name), because they give me to me double research points, and I was always in front of investigations, with less vessels but more powerful, well, that was my strategy, and you had a lot os ways to win; using spies, attacking planets, attacking the spaceships, winning the battleship in Orion to gain very powerful weapons, with diplomacy, alliances with other races, etc...it is a fantastic game, deep but easy to play and difficult to master, and very adjustable for all kind of players.

A must have, really, if you like or not strategy war games, it is essencial to play this game, like Mario Bros, Pac Man, or Donkey Kong, is the best of his class for me.

Greeting, The_Brave_Ant.
