Simply the best oldie! A must for anyone who likes strategy games. If you want to check out 'newer' versions of this game I'd recommend Age of Wonders 1 and 2. A gem!

Master of Magic has potential. The concept is great, technology and spells offer great variety.

Unfortunately ...
- The ai fails to make intelligent use of spells. It seems to simply attempt to overwhelm the player with its production bonus instead.
- The game is poorly balanced. For instance, some spells ("Incarnation", "Stream of Life", ...) are far too powerful given the casting cost.
- With many cities, micromanagement stars to become time-consuming (building the same buildings in every city ...).

This could have been a great game, but is just an ok one.

Master of Magic is one of the most fantastic strategy games ever. Spin-off of Civilisation, it outclasses its model with it's tactical combats. Slow in the beginning, (like most strategy games), a soon as you have a dreamteam of heroes every turn counts! See also the remakes (WIP) if you can't get the original to work. And about the bugs, since I started using a version that came in a game bundle, I've had no more issues. (Or little)

Ein wirklich gutes Spiel das ich denk des Kompatibilitäsmodus von Windows XP auch zum laufen gebracht habe.

Es spielt sich ähnlich wie Civilisation, führt aber zusätzlich noch die Magie und eine Schattenwelt in Spiel ein. Im Vergleich zum "großen Bruder" wird weniger Wert auf die Wirtschaft als viel mehr auf den Kampf gelegt.

Das Leveln von Einheiten und besonders Helden macht viel Spaß und man ist immer auf der Suche nach weiteren Manaquellen um mächtigere Gegenstände für die Helden herzustellen. Während man Anfangs noch vor wenigen Wichteln fliehen muss, schlagen sich die Helden später alleine durch ganze Armeen von Himmelsdrachen.

Never ever been able to get this game to run on anything I have ever owned. Sposed to be a classic
